"Storybook Adventures" at Thompson CC

The Storybook Adventures program at Thompson Community Center in Richmond, B.C. was Blue Moku Publishing's first creative program of the year.

We had a vibrant class of energetic students who made every Saturday full of fun and learning!

Our unique program includes word and spelling games, as well as activities designed to promote thinking outside the box. Students loved playing our Make Your Own Character game where they are encouraged to combine character development with their vivid imagination.

Each class also starts with telling a story. This provides students with the important opportunity to share something about themselves or their daily lives to an audience.

From the third class onward, we start focusing on the elements of a story - Character, Setting, Plot, Conflict, and Theme. This knowledge becomes useful when students start creating their own stories to make their own storybook. The scope is open, and we support students as they each discover their own talents in writing their own stories and creating their own illustrations.

Through producing their very own book from scratch, and utilizing their vast imagination to the max, students develop confidence in their literacy and creative skills, as well as their ability to think critically.

Our dynamic program continues on throughout 2016 and 2017.

Fall registration is now open, and first class is on October 29!
